Ron, Su Baw and Michaely with School Supplies

Time to buy school supplies!

What a year 2020 has been! We sure hope you and yours have stayed healthy and safe. It’s been a big relief to receive frequent “all clear” COVID updates from our friends in Karen State and the refuge camps in Thailand.

While international travel restrictions will prevent us from reaching Myanmar in person for a Jan. 2021 KARE Trip, we have Project KARE partners in place and ready to put school supplies in the hands of students! Our KARE friends will shop in Yangon for school supplies and will deliver truckloads of notebooks, pens and pencils in Karen State. If you’re able to help this year, this is the time! To donate, please visit our Plumfund page, or contact a co-founder directly – Su Baw, Michaely Rosas or Ron Levis.

In addition to delivering school supplies, we have a very exciting KARE Project to announce! Thanks to four extremely generous donors, we are starting construction of two big student boarding houses in December! These two buildings will be home to almost 100 recently displaced students.

Earlier this year, our co-founder Su Baw discovered that a village in Karen State was destroyed by the Burma Army. Sadly, hundreds of Karen people have been displaced, leaving many young students without a school. Thankfully, the education leaders at the New Generation School have offered to provide education for this large group of high school students.

Led by our friend, Scott Farrell, President of Denver-based i2 Construction, four amazing organizations are fully funding the construction of two brand new boarding houses! We are floored by these incredible gifts! Endless thanks to Jim Simpson of East Daley Capital and Steve van Engen of MedSafety Solutions, both based in Centennial, CO. They are funding construction of the Girls’ boarding house for 30 young women students. Scott’s brother, Brady Farrell, of 1901 Inc. of Madison, WI is partnering with Scott and i2 to fund the Boys’ boarding house for 60 young men students. These huge gifts from Scott, Brady, Jim, and Steve are made in honor of Patrick Farrell, brother of Scott and Brady. Patrick would be so very proud!

Thank you to all of you for your continued support.

Stay safe
